Ceramic sauna heater stones Tiiler have been developed mainly for electric saunas, where dry and short steam (heat wave after throwing water on the hot stones) poses a problem. Owing to the porous structure of Tiiler heater stones they are able to accumulate water, thus creating longer and softer löyly. Moreover, more water could be used for making steam. As the stones provide good evaporation properties, moisture content remains high in the sauna. According to VTT tests their evaporation efficiency is even as high as 95%! (Study report RTE 10093/96).

The heater stones have been made of carefully selected clean natural products, which are sintered at ca 1,200 °C. As a result, Tiiler stones emit no hazardous gases, leaving the ambient environment odourless and clean. Tiiler heater stones contain no asbestos (study no. 740-95 carried out by the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health). Delivery of these ceramic stones in a larger but compact package helps to save the environment as well as expenditure on packaging material, transport and warehousing – also for your benefit. Ordinary heater stones prone to cracks disturb the air circulation within the sauna heater, which may lead to overheating or damage to the heater. Tiiler ceramic stones can last for years without any cracks in an ordinary home sauna. Tiiler heater stones do not stain the floor of the heater room as they do not give off dust.

The usual sauna oven stones include impurities which are released to the sauna air under the influence of the glowing resistor. The stone gets lighter in weight and it disintegrates, it looses its heat conductivity and sand will fall down on the floor. The time for heating-up the sauna gets longer.
