Oak is selected for the following characteristics:
- Beautiful, safe, strong, durable, moisture resistant, longevous, attractive wood grain and its healing properties.
- Due to its high strength, oak is almost indestructible under the influence of moisture. This wood can be installed in a sauna or damp room with almost no restrictions.
- Oak wood contains many tannins and antimicrobial substances that prevent fungus and decay.
- In saunas made from oak, the air is always clean because when the wood is heated, phytoncides are released, which disinfect the air from the decomposition products of pathogenic bacteria and thus also remove unpleasant odors.
- Because of the high price, oak is a disadvantage for many, and the hardness of oak is a disadvantage when it comes to processing and assembly.
- Oak also has the special property of heating up quickly. Thus, if you want to heat up the sauna with little time, you should make some elements from oak, such as walls or ceiling.
